ABOUT US

The 3H Program was launched in April 2020 - the first COVID-19 lockdown that Melbourne experienced - as a way of providing fun and engaging activities for primary school students so they can learn new things while not having access to engaging schooling services. Since then, we have continued our mission to give primary school students the opportunity to extend their knowledge in a co-curricular environment by continuing to run workshops, in alignment with the climate of the pandemic. Since our launch, we have had over 500 students participate in our program who have exposed themselves to the areas of English, Debating, Geography, History, Science, Programming, Maths, etc, in ways that would otherwise not be covered in the school curriculum. Along with this, more than 50 secondary school students have volunteered themselves as mentors and have shared their passion and expertise through delivering the workshops. These mentors have acted as the backbone of the Program. Today, the 3H Program is a registered not-for-profit organisation with the same burning passion as it did when it was launched. We hope this program continues to bring a sense of enjoyment and community to the communities here in Australia and overseas.

Subjects

Engineering

This term, 3H Program will be running a series of engineering workshops. The first workshops will cover making parachutes for eggs and the second workshop will involve making paddle pop stick catapults. The students will be taught basic physics and engineering concepts which will then be applied through making models that they can take home. The first two workshops will be held on the 1st of August and the 15th of August, both from 7-9pm.

Debating

Due to popular demand, 3H Program will be bringing back debating workshops, this time in a fortnightly workshop format, spanning 4 sessions. These workshops will go over the structure of debating, how to write a debating speech, presentation skills and also give students the opportunity to participate in 2 mock debates. The aim of the workshops is to give students a deeper dive into debating and public speaking through a series of fun activities and by observing a mock debate conducted by the mentors. The workshops will be held on the 25th of July, 8th of August, 22nd of August and 5th of September, all from 7-9pm.

Please be on the lookout for more subjects in the future!
